About Me
Yumie has always had a passion to teach piano. She loves to grow with her students. She believes that the first piano teacher is the most important in educating children and she has an excellent track record teaching young students. Yumie's piano studio is at her house in beautiful Waterford Lexington.

Studio Equipment:
New Boston Grand Piano (GP-178), Yamaha semi Grand piano (YU-5), Roland Harpsichord (C-30), and Yamaha digital piano (P-140).

Student Opportunities:
During the year, several performance opportunities are made available to qualified students which include competitions, festivals, contests, etc. Yumie expects a lot from students (i.e. students have to practice) but she always gets great results.

Education and Background

Yumie took private lessons for 20 years in Japan and the U.S.A. She studied piano with Miss Yamamoto (pupil for world class pianist, Toyoaki Matsuura), Dr. Haskins and Mrs. Matsumoto. Yumie also studied at Tokyo College of Music & Muse Academy of Music in Tokyo, Japan.

What I Teach

Yumie emphasizes the importance of piano learning procedures to master basic and comprehensive skills. She teaches reading music, ear training, writing music notation, theory, history, solfege as a Kodaly method, eurhythmics as a Dalcroze method, and music composition.

She believes that students can enjoy playing piano by mastering the basic skills from a very early age. She spends much of her time teaching parents the importance of a piano education for young children - even infants.

Yumie's students have unlimited potential. The first piano teacher is very important for all pianists, especially for young children. As a piano teacher, Yumie wants to help her students have a successful start for learning music and piano.

Yumie greatly appreciates the chance to support musical training for children in the Lexington area.
