| What I Teach | |
Dr. Richerson offers 30, 45, and 60 minute private lessons. In addition, she teaches “Petite Pianists” classes (ages 4-6) as well as “Group Piano Classes for Adults” (for beginners, no experience needed!). She specializes in teaching young beginners, adult students, and high school students who plan to study music at the collegiate level. Dr. Richerson’s goal for each of her students is that they become independent learners at the keyboard. She emphasizes a solid technique, helps students develop sight-reading skills, and teaches “at-home” practice strategies with each student. Students learn about the elements of music that make it beautiful and enjoyable (i.e. rhythm, timing, phrasing, balance, articulation, dynamics, etc.). The curriculum for each student's course of study is tailored to accommodate the specific needs and goals of the student. All students have the opportunity to participate in recitals, community outreach performances, studio classes, masterclasses, and festivals/competitions. |
