Knabe Pianos
The Knabe story began in Germany over 200 years ago as William Knabe learned the art of cabinet making and piano design. After immigrating to the United States in 1835, William joined forces with Henry Gaehle and together they took their place in American history, designing a custom piano for Francis Scott Key. After William's death, his two sons carried on the Knabe tradition - making Knabe pianos the official piano of the New York Metropolitan Opera. Now a proud member of the SMC family, Knabe pianos represent the finest in old-world design and modern mass-production. Knabe is uniquely positioned to offer top grade features (like solid wood core, American spruce soundboards, and all-wood action) at prices no other Grade 3 company can match.
Knabe grand pianos represent a rare combination of craftsmanship and advanced technology. Though produced by state-of-the-art production equipment and procedures, these instruments each receive individualized voicing, tuning and regulation service by master piano craftsmen.
Using the World's most advanced production equipment and the benefit of over 200 years of design experience, Knabe produces some of the most beautiful - and most affordable - vertical pianos available today.
