"Ron Gist is a very good friend to the Association of the Louisville Orchestra, which yearly presents the YOUNG ARTIST COMPETITION. This event had its beginnings in 1945. An early winner was Lee Luvisi. To this day, winners perform with the Louisville Orchestra. In 2002, Ron graciously accepted the challenge of sponsorship for this competition, open to 5-12th graders from Louisville and surrounding area. His continued sponsorship and support is a gift which also includes tuning and or moving pianos for this event. Ron is truly our 'hero'."
